  1. Why does it read to use angel food cake then the ingredients says to use butter crackers. I am so confused. The strawberry looks like they are fresh.

    • You are correct. Trifles are made with pound cake or I guess angel food cake will do. Can’t imagine crackers in this. Also, the strawberries on top are not from a can.
If anyone is successful making this and it looks like the pic, please let us know.

      • And it also says to soak the strawberries in amaretto. Nowhere in the recipe is amaretto mentioned. These people are a joke.

    • Because the recipes on this site are CONSISTENTLY screwed up!! There must be no proof reading…..I don’t trust them. One recently called for 12 cups of butter…………there is no way that is correct…3/4 of a gallon??????

  2. I have made this several times. Instead of 1/2 cup milk and box pudding mix….. I make the I stand puppy according to the box. Also, for the buttered flavor crackers, I use vanilla wafers crushed up.

  3. I wonder if you could use fresh berries and danish desert. I’m also confused about angle food or graham grackers?

  4. it is giving options on how to make it. i use sugar free angel food cake because my husband is a diabetic along with sugar free pudding. i stay away from the can pie filling and just layer cake, pudding, fresh sliced strawberries and coolwhip, i then put fresh strawberries on top. it is also good with adding blue beeries and nuts

  5. I just made this… 1/18/2022. Came out great. Sweet but not too sweet! The ritz crackers, surprisingly went well w it. Will make again

  6. Do not knock until you try. I have been making this recipe for years WITH Crackers”. If you let the finished recipe sit in the fridge for at least 4 -6 hours. The crackers swell and flake just like a flaky pastry! My kids love it, and have for 10 years now! You can use other fruit too, not just strawberries.

  7. Where does the Amaretto come in? Not in the recipe. I make this with pudding, cubed angel food cake and fresh strawberries. I bet the cream cheese, sour cream and Amaretto would really make it delicious! Beautiful layered in parfait glasses for brunch, a shower or dessert.

  8. Lot of mistakes, yet let’s fix this. Yes use pound cake soaked in liquor or not, I would slice fresh Berry’s. Now many ideas also for a substitute for crackers, use vanilla wafers or banana slices layered or graham crackers crushed with butter in layers all these will work with cream cheese whipped topping now fallow the recipe

  9. I made this for Thanksgiving. I used cherry pie filling (the store was out of strawberry) and sliced strawberries and gluten-free vanilla cake (I’m allergic to gluten). It was delicious and looked just like the photo. It was a huge hit. I recommend this recipe. YUMMY and BEAUTIFUL!

  10. Your All right the Recipe is all messed up. Personally I would use fresh Strawberry’s an would use Cheesecake pudding, would also fold sliced Strawberries in strawberry glaze. I would also make the Angel Food Cake from scratch & add Rum Extract to the batter to give it some flavor, so kids can eat it too. Then layer according.
