Kitchen Equipment You’ll Need

  • 9×13 baking dish
  • Large skillet
  • Gallon sealable bag
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs kielbasa or smoked sausage, sliced 1/4″ thick
  • 2 lbs creamy baby potatoes, washed, cut in half
  • 2 (15 oz) cans green beans, drained
  • 1/8 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Slap Ya Mama® Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup water

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. Wash the baby potatoes, cut them in half, and place them in a gallon sealable bag.
  3. Add the vegetable oil, seasonings, pepper, and red pepper flakes to the bag. Seal and shake to coat the potatoes evenly.
  4. In a large skillet, combine the sliced sausages and water. Cook over medium-high heat until the sausages are browned and most of the water has evaporated.
  5. Remove the sausages from the pan. Once they are cool enough to handle, add them to the bag with the potatoes.
  6. Melt the butter in the same pan, add the onions and garlic, and cook until the onions are translucent.
  7. Allow the onion mixture to cool slightly, then add it to the bag. Seal and shake to mix all ingredients.
  8. Add the drained green beans to the bag, shake again to combine, and then transfer everything into the prepared baking dish.
  9. Cover with foil and bake in the oven for 40 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
  10. Carefully remove from the oven, serve, and enjoy!

Tips for Success

  • Ensure the potatoes are evenly coated with seasoning by shaking the bag thoroughly.
  • If using frozen green beans, thaw and drain them before adding to the mix.

Additional Tips and Variations

  • For a spicier kick, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Consider adding a sprinkle of grated cheese on top during the last 10 minutes of baking for extra flavor.

  1. Slap Yo Mama is a cajun seasoning blend…..can find it in some of the larger stores like WalMart in Northern states.

Made this recipe serveral ways, and loved it…..my observations…..fresh green beans work best, frozen is a second, but when I used frozen, I waited until after I put the browned sausage, onions, garlic, and seasoning (oh and matchstick carrots, which I also added), in the pan and baked for about 30 min before I added still frozen green beans. I have also tried with already cooked beans, and they need to only be added for about the last 20 min or so, or they get mushy.

  2. Curious….what are “creamy baby potatoes”? Is it special small/baby potatoes, or, a premade special recipe of “creamy baby potatoes” made from the small/baby potatoes? Thanks!

  3. I looked at the store. All I found was Jalapeno sauce and Cajun sauce. What do I use. Is there something different with the same name?
